Larry Tomlin’s History With CMA Ontario
With more than 20 years standing in his profession, in 2007, Larry was conferred a fellow of The Society of Management Accountants with the FCMA designation.
Tomlin Consulting Inc. provides business leadership and crisis management fundamentals to clients in all business sectors with an emphasis on IT and Professional Services. Through strategic identification and analysis of core business problems, we devise creative solutions to alleviate immediate problems and transform our clients.
As an entrepreneur, Larry has founded and run several successful businesses including a property management firm and Tax To Go, an innovative high-volume retail tax preparation service. Grade School Press, an educational publisher and The SchoolsExpo Network, an operator of a trade fair for private schools held at the Ontario Science Centre were run with educational consultant Janyce Lastman.
Among professional organizations, Larry has served as Director and President of The EFILE Association (www.efile.ca), a professional advocacy group which consults with the Canada Revenue Agency to improve the use of e-commerce technology for tax returns and other data to Canadian government agencies. For several years, Larry was also a key advisor to the Ontario Association of Home Inspectors.
Larry has a particular interest in social housing issues and he currently serves on the board and executive of Trellis Housing Initiatives, a non-profit housing provider in Toronto. He was instrumental in the establishment of a small-scale social housing project in Oakville and in the last two years, Larry made significant organizational contributions to a charity which led to a successful $6 million charitable building fund project.
An active member of his community, Larry has also served on various boards, committees and is as an advisor to numerous community organizations, including several private schools and religious institutions.
Larry is enrolled in the Executive Masters of Business Administration Program at Western’s Richard Ivey School of Business and holds a CMC designation from CMC Canada: Certified Management Consultants. He lives in North Toronto with his wife and two children.
